Free Self Defense Workshop for Women

Functional Girl, a female-focused lifestyle brand has partnered with Jiu Jitsu-based Dojo Kyle and the Kyle Police Department to host the Warrior Princess Workshop, a free women’s self-defense initiative, open to females ages 12 and up. The workshop will include information on female victimization statistics, effective situational awareness practices and basic self-defense techniques for various scenarios.

According to Susan B. Carbon, Director of the United States Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women, one in five women in the US will experience a rape in her lifetime. “We understand that personal safety is a critical issue facing women globally and our goal is to empower women with tools that will decrease their odds of victimization.” says Functional Girl founder CJ Legare. Will Caldwell, co-owner of Dojo Kyle, couldn’t agree more.
