Adult Intro to Alcohol Inks by Chrysalis Art Foundation
Chrysalis Members receive 20% off classes! Become a member today! Spring 2014 March 1st, Chrysalis Art Foundation launches adult art class at Hays Communities YMCA in Buda, TX. Local Texas artists and instructors facilitate the classes on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Check the website often for updates on new classes offered through the Chrysalis' Affordable Art Program! To register for classes print the PDF registration form located on the Chrysaliswebsite and mail to Chrysalis Art Foundation, 1645D Main Street, PMB#16, Buda, TX 78610. Participants may register for one or more classes. If you have questions regarding registration, or materials and supplies, please emaileducation@chrysalisartfoundation.org. Registration ends two weeks prior to the first day of class. A class materials and supply list is available for each class. For your convenience, there are local and online sources listed. Drawing One Two Day Class - Saturdays March 1st and 8th from 2-6pm. This class is for beginners to learn about the tools and materials used in graphite drawing. Students learn common terms used in drawing, line form, contour drawing, mark making, creating and using a range of grayscale values with techniques in blending and shading, and the principles of perspective that create depth and dimension. Class fee $95.00. Reductive Drawing Two Day Class – Saturdays March 29th and April 5th from 2-6pm. No experience required. “Reductive” drawing is the process that starts out by covering the entire sheet with charcoal, then using different erasers to take out what doesn’t belong. It creates a different style of picture that’s very effective. Drawing with an eraser isn’t easy, but you get used to taking out what you don’t need. You can always put back more charcoal. The important elements are controlling the eraser’s edge to get the right lines. Class fee $95.00. Intro to Digital Photography Two Day Class – Wednesdays March 26th and April 2nd from 7-9pm. The goal of this class is to give the person new to digital photography an understanding of basic photography skills needed to take great pictures. Students learn digital image terminology, digital camera technology, and key digital image issues including; fundamentals, lighting and exposure, image viewing, editing software, and printing images. Class supplies are your digital camera, pen, and paper. Handouts provided. Class fee $55.00. Intro to Alcohol Inks One day class –Saturday May 24th from 2-6pm. This is an introduction to alcohol ink painting. It is meant to be fun – no expectations – just pure entertainment and exploration of a new medium! Alcohol Ink is a permanent ink that reacts with rubbing alcohol similar to the way watercolor pigment does with water. It is intended for non-porous surfaces such as slick Yupo watercolor paper, ceramic tile, glass, etc. It dries very quickly due to the alcohol base, and the fluid motion lends more toward abstract images. Class fee$65.00. Beginning Chalk Pastels Two Day Class – Saturdays March 15th and 22nd from 2-6pm.Beginning pastel will cover the various types and forms of pastel used; pencil, stick, soft and hard. Tools and materials useful for pastel painting will also be discussed. The class introduces basic color theory, how to choose your color palette when working with chalk pastels, and exploring pastel painting surfaces, Students create a sampler that depicts the exploration of strokes, blending techniques, and color.
