Hays CISD 50th Anniversary Parade
Hays CISD to Mark 50th Anniversary with Parade Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Hays CISD) turns 50 years old on May 6, 2017. That day marks the anniversary of the vote taken in 1967 to consolidate the Buda, Kyle, and Wimberley School Districts into one. At the time of consolidation, the newly formed Hays CISD opened its doors with 1,157 students and a handful of campuses. Today, Hays CISD is home to 19,260 students at 23 campuses. The parade will feature entries from all of the district’s schools. Legendary head football coach, Bob Shelton, will serve as the parade’s grand marshal. Hays County commissioner and proud Hays High School graduate, Mark Jones, will emcee the event. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. at Live Oak Academy on Jack C. Hays Trail and run about three-tenths of a mile to Shelton Stadium. The parade is expected to last until 11:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come watch the parade. The event is free.
